If you want the Brick phone blocker in India, the closest alternative is bloc (by Letsbloc). It works the same way: you lock the apps you choose, and tapping your phone on a small NFC device is the only way to get them back. bloc costs ₹1,699 instead of about ₹7,999, works on iPhone and Android, and ships across India in 3 to 5 days.
Disclosure: this page is written by the team that makes bloc. We checked Brick's price, availability and phone support in October 2026. They change, so check Brick's own site before you buy.
Why People in India Look for a Brick Alternative
Brick is a good product, but it isn't built for buying in India.
- ·Price. Brick is $59 in the US. In India it was listed at ₹7,999 by a reseller (Mainstreet) in October 2026, and third party listings on Amazon.in vary.
- ·Wait. The reseller quoted about four weeks' delivery.
- ·Phones. Brick needs iOS 17 or later, or Android 12 or later. Plenty of phones in Indian pockets are older than that.
- ·Support. Problems go through whoever sold it to you, not a team in India.
None of that changes how well the idea works. It just makes the same idea cheaper and quicker to get from somewhere else.

How bloc Works
bloc is a small NFC magnet that sticks to your fridge, plus a free app. Black or White.
- ·Stick bloc on your fridge.
- ·Open the app and choose the apps that eat your day: Instagram, YouTube, games, whatever pulls you in.
- ·Start a session. Those apps are locked.
- ·To get them back, walk to the fridge and tap your phone on bloc.
Calls, messages, maps, ride apps and anything you mark as essential are never blocked. The walk is the point: it puts a few seconds between the urge and the scroll, and a lot of urges don't survive the trip.
Brick Alternative for Android
bloc works on Android phones with NFC. That's most phones made after 2017: if your phone can do contactless payments, it can use bloc. The Android app is free on Google Play.
If your phone has no NFC, the app's Shake, Typing and Bonkers modes still add friction before a blocked app opens, so you're not locked out of the idea.
Brick needs Android 12 or later, so bloc is also the option for older Android phones.
Other Brick Alternatives
| Option | What it is | Price | Getting it in India |
|---|---|---|---|
| bloc | NFC fridge magnet + free app | ₹1,699 | Ships free in 3 to 5 days |
| Bloom | Steel NFC card + app | About $39 | Import only |
| Unpluq | NFC tag + subscription app | Tag about $26 to $29, plus subscription | Import only |
| Blok | NFC card (no relation to bloc) | About $29 | Import only |
| Screen Time / Digital Wellbeing | Built into your phone | Free | Already on your phone |
We compare all of these in our guide to the best phone blockers in India, and Bloom on its own in bloc vs Bloom Card.
The free version. If you don't want to buy anything, set app limits in Screen Time or Digital Wellbeing and ask someone else to set the passcode. It's weaker than a physical tap, because you can still ask them, but it's better than a limit you can dismiss yourself.
Is a "Brick Dupe" Worth It?
Some people try a do it yourself version: a cheap NFC sticker plus a phone automation that turns on a Focus mode when you tap it. It's a fun experiment, but the automation lives on the same phone you're trying to put down, so turning it off takes a few seconds.
Brick and bloc work differently. They use your phone's own app blocking (Screen Time on iPhone) so the apps are actually locked until you tap. That's what makes the walk matter.
Verdict
If you're in India and want what Brick does, bloc is the practical choice: the same tap to unlock, about a fifth of the price, delivered in days, and it works on more phones, including Android phones with NFC.
If you're in the US, or you already own a Brick that works for you, Brick is a good product and there's no reason to switch.
