Why bloc works

You don’t have a willpower problem. You have a distance problem.

Drag across the phone to see what one walk changes.

Without bloc

One tap to ignore.

Screen Time asks you to stop yourself, with the feed already open.

With bloc: the app during a session, 44 minutes remaining, and a button that says Unbloc using bloc

Time Limit

You’ve reached your limit on Instagram.

OK

Ignore Limit

With bloc

Nothing to ignore.

No Ignore Limit button. To get back in, you have to get up.

How it works

Set it up once.

  1. A black bloc on a fridge door, between a sticky note and a photo magnet

    1

    Stick it on your fridge.

Away from your bed and desk.

  2. The bloc app home screen: Ready to Focus, a session length picker and the bloc button

    2

    Start a session.

    Pick your apps. They block.

  3. A phone held against a black bloc, the screen showing Unlocked, bloc tapped

    3

    Walk over and tap.

    Tap to unblock early.

Works with NFC enabled phones

What bloc does

Blocked on your phone. Blocked on your laptop. Blocked on time.

  • Keeps healthy limits between you and your doomscrolling.

Pick your hours once. Instagram, YouTube and Reddit go dark on time, every day, without you deciding.

  • iPhoneAndroidChrome

Works on iPhone, Android and Chrome.

Feeds blocked on your phone, distracting sites blocked on your laptop.

  • Shows how you’re doing.

Your Bloc Score drops every time you unblock early. It’s hard to lie to.

  • A white bloc

    Covers the whole house.

Pair every phone at home with one bloc.

Questions

Before you buy.

Still unsure? WhatsApp us.

Will bloc work with my phone?

If your phone can tap to pay, it works. Every iPhone on iOS 16.2 or later. Android 9 or later with NFC.

Or: open Settings, search NFC. If it shows up, you’re set.

What if I’m away from home?

Your session still ends on its own. The bloc app runs a safety timer, so you’re never locked out of your apps for good.

What if I really need an app?

Walk over and tap your phone on bloc. Your apps open right away.

Can my family share one?

Yes. Several phones can pair with the same bloc.

Does it work on my laptop too?

Yes. Bloc for Chrome blocks distracting sites on your laptop, alongside the apps on your phone.

What if something goes wrong?
